Dead Man at Devil’s Cove, chapter 4, page 103A
I considered splitting this page into three parts because of the tall panel in the middle, but I decided to just go ahead and put the top 3/4 up this week. I’ll add on a little extra stuff next week because we’re only getting a single strip.
I see…it’s Oak Island! 🙂
I look forward to a long series of ever-more elaborately designed pages consisting of increasingly more difficult engineering obstacles for Jonny and crew to overcome, one after another, week after week, the pit growing deeper and ever more dangerous, a coin discovered now and then, obviously salted by Doc Fiveash to keep his young charges flagging interest aflame, year after year, as Gretchen and Jonny grow old at this task, the skeleton mask becoming tattered and stained, the figure upon it barely recognizable, until finally a misplaced pick breaks through into the subterranean water-dark cave, the rushing surf filling the hole and drowning all of them, a fitting end to their dangerous and ultimately futile monomania.
Well, this comment is starting to look pretty prescient now….
Guess someone subverted the trope after all!
