It occurs to me that not everyone who reads this comic also reads my blog, so I thought I should make a post over here to let you all know what’s going on.

After six months of the management at my old studio saying “two more weeks, two more weeks,” we finally got tired of waiting for them to fix the flood damage and got a new place. So I am back at work! I did, however, decide that I wasn’t happy with the script for the rest of this story, and have been working for the last month or so on rewriting and laying out the whole book. I’ll be starting up on drawing the final strips soon, but there will be a little bit more of a wait while I build up a backlog.

In the meantime, you could turn on your televisions and watch The Middleman on ABC Family. It’s based on a comic I drew and I’m co-owner of the property, so its success would be very nice for me indeed. You may also be interested in the new Collected Edition of the entire Middleman series so far.

I’m also freelancing for Hasbro designing Star Wars figures. I’ll let you know when my designs start hitting stores.

A longer wait for updates

Hi there, here I am, back from visiting my folks for Christmas, suffering from an extremely bad cold, and my studio has had absolutely no work done on it that I can see. I can’t get any drawing done until that gets fixed, because they put all my supplies in storage when they said they’d have to take about a week to repair the water damage to the room. That was about three weeks ago.

I’ll let you know when I can get back to work and when there will be updates.

Tales of Woe

You may have heard about the terrible storms that ravaged the northwest US coast last week. I thought I had escaped unscathed, but sadly this was not so. It seems my studio flooded. (I think perhaps it may have had something to do with those men pulling all the asphalt off the roof during the storm itself but that is neither here nor there.) Thankfully, none of my stuff got ruined. I was especially worried about this because I had every single Jonny Crossbones page on the floor, resting against the wall. It does seem however, that the laminate floor was completely destroyed. Over the phone on Friday the building manager told my studiomate BT that we’d be back in today, but when I arrived this morning I found a large damp room with no floor and industrial dehumidifiers tastefully distributed throughout.

At this point, you may be asking yourself, “what does this mean to me?” What it means is that in combination with the facts that I am in the middle of moving house and am going to be flying to Massachusetts for Christmas next Monday, that I’m not going to be able to do any real updates until January.

So, in summary: A temporary hiatus starts today, and regular updates will resume on January 3rd. There will likely be small holiday updates. I also expect I’ll be doing a little blogging over at evil space robot (for which I really need to put a link on the sidebar.)

I’m going up to Vancouver today to see a day or two of shooting on the Middleman TV pilot. Since this show is based on a comic I drew, I am understandably excited about it.

I am deeply ashamed of copying that one panel. I believe I will be replacing the second one with a redrawn version shortly.

I think I’m going to stop bothering to switch fonts for the web version of the strip– I accidentally posted the last two strips with my own font intact and nobody noticed so I guess I’ll just keep doing that.

By the way, I don’t ever want to draw chains again in my life.
